Did you enjoy Lara Croft’s triumphant return to the video game world in this year’s Tomb Raider reboot? We certainly did.
Younger fans who want to check out where gaming’s leading lady first got her feet wet now have a cheap and convenient option to do so. The original Tomb Raider has just been put up on iOS for just $0.99.
Through and through, this is the same 1996 classic which got Lara’s legacy off the ground. Square Enix has confirmed they haven’t messed with the original build in any way.
“We’ve not messed about with it, so it’s the full, unedited, unadulterated experience from the classic release at a super-low price,” it says in the game’s App Store description. “How better to find out if you’ve still got what it takes to beat a legendary game than by taking on the lost city of Atlantis and the pyramids of Egypt? It’s probably not for the faint of heart!”
Two additional levels included in the 1998 expansion have been included, and the $.99 price tag should land you roughly 15 hours of retro-gaming glory. It also sports controller support for those who don’t want to tangle with the touch screen interface.
Expect to shoot a lot of raptors, bears, gorillas, and other wild beasts while acrobatically flying through the air, but don’t count on Lara brutally murdering any human beings. She hadn’t quite tapped her killer within at this point in her career.
