Atlus' long-running Shin Megami Tensei series has picked up in popularity in recent years, but the earliest days of the line still remain a mystery to those who haven't learned to read Japanese or imported a copy of the Super Famicom games.
Atlus, realizing that it has a massive series on its hands, has decided to capitalize on the mystery of these early games and publish the first entry on iOS. Atlus itself will be handling the localization, and its script will explore the ever-present battle in the Shin Megami Tensei universe between Law and Chaos.
As with all Shin Megami Tensei games, forging fragile alliances with demons and fusing them together plays a major part, and every choice the character makes will affect the outcome of the game.
Fans of the popular Shin Megami Tensei: Persona sub-series might want to check out Shin Megami Tensei IV on the Nintendo 3DS to get your expectations in line. The demonic main branch of this series is very different from the rock 'n roll anime look that Persona has going for it, and it doesn't sport the social emphasis either. Shin Megami Tensei focuses on straight up dungeon crawling and quests.
Shin Megami Tensei will be available on iOS for $7.99 on March 18.
