Expect the OnePlus 6T to arrive in October with carrier assistance.
In the fall, T-Mobile will become the first U.S. carrier to offer OnePlus-made hardware in its lineup. Both sides have been in negotiations and reached an agreement for exclusive availability, according to CNET. You won’t see any of the other major U.S. carriers selling OnePlus’ next flagship because of the partnership.
The price should be $500 at full retail; however, it’s unclear what type of monthly payments or promotions T-Mobile will offer on its own. T-Mobile often trots out buy-one-get-one deals for new high-end phones, tablets, and smartwatches. So don’t go thinking John Legere will welcome the OnePlus 6T in quiet fashion.
If you’re in the U.S., you’ll still be able to purchase the OnePlus 6T unlocked. T-Mobile, though, joins as an appealing alternative. There should be certified network connectivity as well as options for financing and insurance. Don’t rule out a magenta-colored OnePlus 6T, either.
OnePlus talked to multiple U.S. carriers earlier this year about selling the OnePlus 6, but nothing ever formalized. Yet there must’ve been some interest from T-Mobile for it to sign on now.
We’ll have to wait and see how this plays out. OnePlus was never put through the rigorous testing imposed by carriers, and that might delay the OnePlus 6T’s debut at T-Mobile.
