One of the big changes rumored for the OnePlus 6T is a fingerprint sensor beneath the display, rather than on the back of the phone. A new teaser from OnePlus on Friday appears to confirm the device will indeed feature the design change.
The short teaser doesn’t show the device in full, but the most important change is highlighted.
“Unlock the future,” the video teases, with an animation teasing the embedded fingerprint sensor.
We’ve seen a few Android devices release overseas that contain fingerprint sensors embedded in the display, but the OnePlus 6T should be the biggest release to feature the technology. With carrier support expected when the device launches, OnePlus could break into the mainstream with a device that feels very futuristic.
Other changes expected from the OnePlus 6T include a smaller notch and the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack. Otherwise, the device is expected to feature specs similar to the OnePlus 6, which remains one of the best Android devices currently available.
No official announcement date has been set for the OnePlus 6T, but reports say we could see it unveiled on October 17.
