The frequency of OnePlus 5T leaks suggest an official announcement from OnePlus is imminent. Now, complete specs and pricing for the device has been revealed, and it sounds mighty impressive.
In addition to a 6-inch QHD display and Snapdragon 835 processor, the device is expected to feature up to 8GB of RAM, a dual-camera setup, and a rear-facing fingerprint sensor. Notably, a new retail listing for the device also mentions a facial recognition feature called Face ID.
Essentially, the device sounds like the OnePlus 5, but with a tweaked design to account for the edge-to-edge display. Which is great news, because the OnePlus 5 is already a stellar device. Throwing in an improved screen will only make the handset better.
But there is a downside to the arrival of an edge-to-edge display. The fingerprint sensor will be moved to the back, and the price is expected to go up to $499, which is still pretty competitive against devices from Samsung, Apple, and Google.
Also notable is the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack. While the port’s removal hasn’t been confirmed, mounting evidence suggests OnePlus is following in the footsteps of Google and Apple.
The OnePlus 5 isn’t that old, but it was always a sure bet OnePlus would introduce a device with an edge-to-edge screen. With the amount of leaks we’ve seen over the past several days, we can likely expect an official OnePlus 5T announcement any day now.
