OnePlus on Wednesday confirmed that users will not need to wait for invites in order to purchase the OnePlus 3. This is a drastic change from the company’s previous business strategy, which relied on an often-infuriating invite system, leaving fans waiting months to buy a new smartphone.

“We’re releasing the OnePlus 3 invite-free, right from launch day,” OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei said. “In addition, invites are gone forever from the future OnePlus product launches.” Pei explained a bit about the invite system and why it was so key to the company’s success in the past:

The invite system has a special place in our history. When we first started out, our team was incredibly small. We had no idea what the demand of the OnePlus One would look like. We also weren’t fans of flash sales, where there’s a risk of everything selling out immediately, forcing fans to wait indefinitely. To address this, we designed the invite system to give customers a chance to purchase a phone as soon as we had inventory ready.

OnePlus will unveil the OnePlus 3 on June 14, the same day that OnePlus 3 sales will start (3 p.m. EST).
