HTC announced its new flagship HTC One M9 on Sunday evening in Barcelona, finally offering an update to its popular HTC One (M8) smartphone. The changes are a’plenty, but HTC took a more conservative approach to its tweaks compared to Samsung, which built the Galaxy S6 from scratch.

The One M9 is a refinement of the One (M8), which is exactly what HTC should have done. Fans seem to love the nearly all-metal housing, so why fix what isn’t broken? You’ll note in the video above, which compares the two phones, that HTC swapped out its camera module for a 20-megapixel sensor in this year’s model, added some two-tone metal to the sharper borders, tweaked its BoomSound speakers with new Dolby 5.1 surround sound support and more. Plus, Sense 7 is already shaping up to be the best version of HTC’s new user interface.
