Using Google Maps offline is nothing new. In fact, many of us here at TechnoBuffalo have been using the capability for a while now. The feature essentially allows you to use Maps even when you don’t have an Internet connection. It’s an incredibly useful feature, but, unfortunately, you haven’t been able to use turn-by-turn directions without a solid connection. Until now.

Google on Thursday said offline turn-by-turn directions are coming to Google Maps, making the feature much more accessible for adventurers and people without a good connection. Awesome. Additionally, offline data will include reviews and open hours for stores and restaurants, making Maps an incredibly powerful tool for those who can’t get online. Google said these features are coming “later this year.”
