The Sharp Aquos Crystal is the closest we’ve gotten to a bezel-less smartphone in the United States, but now Nubia is about to offer something even better: a completely “visually borderless” smartphone.

Chinese smartphone maker Nubia announced Friday that it will begin to sell the Nubia Z9 in the United States sometime during the third quarter of this year, which means between July and September. The unlocked smartphone offers the aforementioned bezel-less 5.2-inch 1080p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, a 16-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, a 2,900mAh battery and Android 5.0 Lollipop. The phone also features “frame interactive technology” that allows you to interact with the phone by touching the sides of the device, as you’ll see in the video below.

A couple of models will be available, including a “Classic” model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage that will cost $564; an “Elite” model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage that will cost $645; and an “Exclusive” model with a fingerprint reader and, presumably, the added hardware featured in the Elite model, for $725.

Oddly, the video below and the photos above all seem to be renders of the device, not the actual phone. While it looks pretty stunning, we’re going to hold final judgment until we see the phone in a couple months.
