Here’s a neat Super Mario Run advertisement from Nintendo. The clip showcases 2D Mario iterations since the original, not counting Super Mario Bros. 2. Each game is played with its respective input for Nintendo jumps to the iPhone.

Their mantra? The feeling never changes.

I mean, it does, though. Each of these games feels different, though perhaps the trademark Mario feel is his momentum. This platformer offered a character that actually slid when he jumped, giving players a sense of weight instead of precision, and that lends a lot of depth to a 2D game.

That’s probably “the feeling” Nintendo means by this ad.

From TV to phone in 30 years.

Still, it’s neat. It’s crazy to think that we went from playing Mario on our old tube TVs to taking him on the go on an inches-large screen in our pockets.
