Following news from last week that the Nook HD and Nook HD+ now support Google Play, Barnes & Noble is knocking down the price quite a bit for both devices in celebration of Mother's Day. From today until May 12, you can pick up either (or both) of the tablets; the 8GB 7-inch Nook HD is just $149, while the 16GB iteration is $179—slotting both below the $200 mark undercuts a lot of the competition. Meanwhile, the 9-inch Nook HD+ is just $179 for the 16GB model and $209 for the 32BG option—prices are normally $269 and $299, respectively.

Neither device has enjoyed the type of Kindle Fire or iPad mini success, but both are solid tablets made even better by Google Play support. If you're looking for a last minute gift for mom, the 7-inch Nook HD isn't a bad choice at all, and actually allows for plenty of flexibility over some competing devices. You can take advantage of the offers both online and in-store.
