Nokia is working with U.K. wireless carriers and retailers to provide free subscriptions to Netflix with any new purchase of its Lumia Windows Phones, according to a new report from the Financial Times.

Deals have reportedly already been inked with Vodafone and mobile phone retailer Phones4U. Vodafone will offer a year of Netflix with each new Lumia purchase, while Phones4U will provide a 6-month subscription, Financial Times said Monday. A similar deal was secured with Gigantti in Finland for the Lumia 625, which will come with six months of Netflix.

Apparently Microsoft, which is in the process of acquiring Nokia for $7.16 billion, and the retailers will foot the bill for the subscriptions, which start at $7.99 per month. Over the course of a year, that's about a $96 incentive to choose a Windows Phone. The goal is to increase the attractiveness of the Windows Phone platform, which has a small but growing market share compared to iOS and Android.

It's unclear if these offers will spread to other markets, such as the United States, though we imagine Microsoft and Nokia are working to do so.
