The Nintendo 2DS XL is a fantastic portable gaming system, and one of the great things about it is it’s available in a number of different iterations. In the past Nintendo has released special Pokémon versions, and it’s continuing that trend with the Nintendo 2DS XL Hylian Shield Edition.
Nintendo announced the new version of its portable console on Twitter, revealing it will be a Gamestop exclusive and will retail for $159.99 beginning July 2. The Nintendo 2DS XL Hylian Shield Edition will come with a copy of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds pre-installed.
The Hylian Shield Edition 2DS XL is based on the design of Link’s Hylian Shield. It carries the striking yet subdued blue and silver color scheme and the center is outlined with the shield’s center insignia. From the looks of the images Nintendo provided, it looks as if parts of the detailing is raised.
A close up of the back reveals the trigger buttons are brown. Unfortunately, we don’t get a clear look at the inside of the console so we don’t know what it will look like. Regardless, the new 2DS XL looks fantastic and is calling to be purchased.
