Like the Wii U’s Pro Controller, though, it also boasts a really strong battery life. The back of the box, as revealed by GameXplain in their recent vid and spotted by NeoGAF user Vic, reveals that the lithium ion battery within the controller lasts about 40 hours on a single charge. The Wii U Pro Controller, for reference, lasted me somewhere between 70 and 80 hours per charge.
Compare that to the other rechargeable controller on the console market, the DualShock 4? That thing gets around four hours with each charge.
The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller still packs impressive tech
The crazy thing to me is that Nintendo didn’t really sacrifice any features to keep the battery life as high as it is. The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller will have the new HD Rumble, it’ll read amiibo with its NFC reader and it features motion control. All of that and still 40 hours on a single charge? Yeah, I’ll take that.
$69.99 is still pricey, but at least it makes some sense now.
