Two separate sites have indicated that Nintendo Switch pre-orders are being canceled by retailers like GameStop and Target. The reason, they indicate, is due to under-allocating stock.

We initially went to write the story, but we had a hard time tracing the stories down to their sources. Nintendo Today, for instance, says that GameStop is canceling stock, and they cite “reports.” Other sites use Nintendo Today as the initial point, but we couldn’t verify that on our own.

We weren’t the only ones with this line of logic. Games Industry received a statement from GameStop about the supposed cancellations. The game retailer vehemently denies it. Here’s what it said:

GameStop has not, and is not, cancelling any Nintendo Switch pre-orders due to allocation issues. We are working very closely to confirm and validate any and all pre-orders of this innovative gaming system. Should any customer who pre-ordered a Nintendo Switch console from GameStop experience any issue with their order, we encourage them to contact our Guest Care team so we can help resolve the issue.

If you have any issues, contact support

As the GameStop rep suggests, those who see pre-orders cancelled, if it’s even happening at all, should reach out to GameStop. Here’s the contact section of their site.
