Stories of shortages and apologies for the response to them haven’t stopped the Nintendo Switch from being a success. Its home country of Japan is no different, where shortages are even more widespread than in North America.

Dengeki Online reports that the Nintendo Switch sailed across the 1 million unit mark this month in Japan, three months after it was first released. For comparison’s sake, the Wii managed to sell 1.85 million in Japan at this point, and the Wii U struggled behind with 820,000 units. The Nintendo Switch finds itself firmly entrenched between the two.

After a strong showing at E3 and a steady stream of solid titles throughout the summer, the Switch only looks stronger heading into the holiday season.
