Nintendo's much-anticipated online service for the Switch is set to launch in September—in the second half of September, to be exact. The company shared an update about the launch on Twitter, but still didn't provide an exact date.
When Nintendo Switch Online is available, it'll give subscribers access to online play for $20 per year, as well as a number of other big features, including support for cloud saves. In addition, Nintendo Switch owners will be able to enhance their online experience with a smartphone app, which is already available and compatible with Splatoon 2.
Arguably the biggest draw of Switch Online is the availability of classic NES games, which Nintendo says will have an added online component.

"With online play added to every classic game, you can compete (or cooperate) online with friends, share your screen, or pass the controller, depending on the game," Nintendo said.
The service will launch with 20 NES titles, including The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 3. Other games are set to be revealed ahead of the service's launch next month.
In lieu of a virtual console for Switch, which Nintendo said won't launch for its portable console, Switch Online could shape into a decent replacement.
