Two years after its release, the Nintendo Switch is reportedly getting a big upgrade in the form of two new models that aim for the high end and low end gaming market.

The news comes from The Wall Street Journal in a report that claims Nintendo is working on an "enhanced" version of the console aimed at gamers and a cheaper option that is meant to be the successor to the 3DS line. This isn't the first time we've heard news of a new Switch model coming out in 2019.

These new systems will feature brand new designs as opposed to being upgraded versions of the current design. That being said, no details were revealed about what upgrades could be in store.

According to the report, this new enhanced model wouldn't compete with the PS4 or Xbox One, which isn't surprising. Sony and Microsoft have gone for a different kind of gaming market compared to Nintendo. Unfortunately, we don't get any details regarding the upgrades to this console, but it could mean a bigger display and more powerful processor.

The cheaper option sounds quite intriguing. With the introduction of the Switch, many wondered what would become of the 3DS line, the other Nintendo portable gaming system. Nintendo has tested out different options in Japan such as offering a system-only version to keep the price down. It may bring that along with a few other compromises to get closer to the $199 price of the New Nintendo 3DS XL.

The report doesn't specify a possible announcement date. However, E3 might be the perfect setting to unveil these new Switch versions. The gaming conference takes place in June in Los Angeles.
