We are returning to the land of Hyrule sooner than we originally thought.
During its E3 Direct event, Nintendo took the opportunity to drop the first teaser trailer for the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breathe of the Wild, and boy is it creepy. There is definitely more of a tinge of horror in the new Zelda game that should make it much more interesting.
The trailer sees Link and Zelda exploring the deep caverns of Hyrlue right underneath the castle when they stumble upon something very unexpected. Some sort of mummified version of Ganondorf seems to be living underground with a glowing arm grabbing the corpse. It is here that the corpse suddenly wakes with blazing eyes and stares menacingly at Link and Zelda. The trailer then pans out to a sweeping view of Hyrule with the castle in the center that shows the new threat will be as dangerous as it was in the first Breath of the Wild.
Nintendo's Yoshiaki Koizumi confirmed that the sequel is already in development, but did not reveal any additional details. We don't know what the plot will be about or when we can expect the game to be released.
The sequel will follow the events of Zelda: Breath of the Wild that saw Link defeat the four Champions and Ganon to free Hyrule from his reign and liberate Princess Zelda, who had been trapped in the castle for 100 years. The end of the game saw them trying to rebuild Hyrule to its former glory. Along the way, something goes very wrong.
It is unfortunate that we likely won't see the game for another two years, but nevertheless, we are already excited for the new Zelda game.
