Crimson Shroud

In celebration of the release of Weapon Shop de Omasse,  both Nintendo and Level-5 have slashed the prices of every other game in the Guild series for the rest of the week, ending on Feb. 23.

The games have been knocked down from $7.99 all the way to $2.99, giving some great savings on some really solid games. Far and away the most noteworthy in the series are Attack of the Friday Monsters: A Tokyo Tale and Crimson Shroud.

Attack of the Friday Monsters is the first game from Kaz Ayabe, creator of the Boku no Natsu Yasumi games, to be translated into English and released in the West. While not sporting too much on the gameplay front, it's a wonderful little adventure title with a beautiful Japanese countryside setting, fun characters and themes, and a heartfelt climax that will leave you in shock.

On the other hand, Crimson Shroud is a complete package from legendary strategy RPG designer Yasumi Matsuno, creator of Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics. Matsuno tosses aside the notion that RPGs should be streamlined versions of tabletop RPGs and straight up adds rolling dice and board game pieces to the Nintendo 3DS touch screen. Leveling up is not a huge deal, but similar to his popular hit Vagrant Story, Crimson Shroud is all about equipment management, and the amount of content within this game is easily the biggest bang for your buck.

Make these two your priority in the sale, but gems can also be found in Aero Porter and Liberation Maiden. This will also be the first time I get to play Weapon Shop de Omasse, so I'll be looking forward to it.
