NieR: Automata‘s first DLC expansion adds a host of promised content in the form of new costumes and new boss fights. The game itself has been heralded for being offset and “different” from the usual action fare of the world, and this latest DLC makes it only stranger with sexy costumes and a touch of our own world.
The first DLC dresses up the three main characters in brand new costumes. 2B’s standard outfit is often called out for being too revealing, and PlatinumGames certainly listened to the praises and criticisms alike by taking her new outfit up to eleven.
2B – saving the robotic post-apocalypse while forgetting to change out of her nightly lingerie. This costume first made its splash in the previous NieR game on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
And the deranged universe of NieR: Automata couldn’t possibly be any more messed up than it already is, but somehow, elements of our own frantic world managed to do both that. Both the CEO of Square Enix and PlatinumGames have been lovingly recrafted into character models and programmed as the game’s hidden, ultimate boss fights. You can see their footage in the trailer below.
Nier: Automata has long legs, and not just 2B’s
I find that modern classics of tomorrow are far and few between, but NieR: Automata has all the makings of one. Brilliant story, great setting, fun gameplay. It has the long legs to last well beyond its first year of availability, longer than 2B’s legs, in fact. I’m not sure if it needs DLC to drag out its existence, but with how ridiculous these are, I’m willing to cough up a few dollars.
Besides, I got sidetracked following its release and still haven’t wrapped up my time with it. Maybe I’ll find some time this coming summer.
For now, this Nier: Automata’s “3C3C1D119440927” DLC will be released for the PlayStation 4 and PC “soon.”
