The Nexus 9 has been available for a few months already, but now Google is rolling out a new variant of the stock Android tablet. A Sand-colored version of the device hit Google Play this week, though for now it’s only available with 32GB of storage and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Otherwise, it’s the same Android tablet we already know. The Nexus 9 packs an 8.9-inch 2048 x 1536-pixel display, a 2.3GHz NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor, a 6700mAh battery, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM and runs pure Android 5.0 Lollipop. It costs $479 for the 32GB Sand version, though you can still grab the 16GB model in black or white for $399.

The Nexus 9 is a pretty solid tablet, but it’s not without its imperfections. From a design perspective, we wish HTC had stepped it up a bit more in terms of materials, though Android 5.0 works great on the new device and we love the front-facing speakers. For now, this is one of the best Lollipop slates on the market, right up there with the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet, but that may change as 2015 continues and new devices hit the scene.
