In fact, Cowen analyst Kevin Kopelman on Tuesday cut his Kindle Fire sales prediction from 14 million units to 12 million units for the entirety of 2012. Amazon better do something, and quick.

It's really no surprise considering Google's device comes equipped with better specs and an untouched version of Jelly Bean for the same price. Competition comes with the territory, though Amazon may have a plan to fight back with an updated Fire later this year.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of numbers Google racks up after its tablet has been on the market for a month. The Kindle Fire was initially received well, but sales seemed to take a dip after the busy holiday period. We've already chimed in with our thoughts on how the Fire is at a disadvantage now that the Nexus 7 is out, and it sounds like others definitely agree.
