Today we have two of our finals four devices ready to go head to head. The Nexus 6P vs the Xiaomi Mi5. A battle of two budget-friendly flagships. Most US phone users may not even be familiar with Huawei or Xiaomi — after all, it is still pretty difficult to get your hands on phones from these makers without jumping through some hoops. With the exception of the Nexus 6P, carriers just don’t make it easy to purchase these devices. Nonetheless, they’re incredibly popular among our readers.
Based on specs alone, consumers should be floored by the offerings these phones hold. Pair that with extremely competitive pricing and you really can’t lose. The Nexus 6P, of course, features a great pure Android experience and quick updates to the OS. The Mi5 comes with its own suite of Xioami apps that make up for a lack of full Google support in the Chinese market.
Which would you choose? The Huawei Nexus 6P or the Xiaomi Mi5?

Finding the right balance is a near-impossible task. In cooking, neglecting to use spices can leave a dish bland and without personality; add too much and you ruin the meal entirely. The same thing can happen in mobile.
I’ve used and tested a lot of really great phones this year, but none have struck that perfect balance between design, speed, battery life and software. Some come close, but there’s always that one thing that keeps a phone from being The One.
The Nexus 6P is different—or comes about as close to perfection as I’ve seen. What I find most impressive is how the Nexus 6P’s excellence feels so natural, like it isn’t trying too hard to be the best. It just is. Everything works in perfect harmony to create one of the most exciting devices in a long, long time… read more
For the most part, the Mi5 is in lockstep with the latest Android flagships from Samsung and LG. It boasts a Snapdragon 820 processor, a 3000mAh battery, a 16-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, 4GB of RAM, up to 128GB of storage, Android 6.0, and a fingerprint reader built into the new home button. The display falls short of the competition with a 5.15-inch 1080p LCD panel, but Xiaomi had to cut corners somewhere to keep costs down.
As usual, Xiaomi is selling the new phone with barely any profit margin. The Mi5 starts at 1,999RMB (roughly $305) and goes as high as 2,999 RMB ($458) with 128GB of storage… read more.
Editor’s Note: It appears one of you have tried to hack the polls. By voting 500+ times in a matter of minutes. Something that is humanly impossible. Not Cool. We’re fine with folks voting numerous times, however to do so so blatantly is just so wrong. The poll was promptly shut down and user’s votes nullified and IP banned. I am declaring the winner of this poll the Huawei 6P, the phone that was up by nearly 30-percent prior to this person hijacking the poll.
This poll closes within 24 hours (the following day).
