The Nexus 5's days are officially numbered. Google confirmed on Thursday that production has stopped for the 5-inch Android phone. The device is still listed in black from Google Play, though it's out of stock, and the red and black models are no longer advertised.

"The Nexus 5 will continue to be available for sale on Google Play and through select retailers in Q1 2015," a Google spokesperson told TechnoBuffalo.

Earlier today, TechRadar broke the news that production had stopped for the Nexus 5. At the time the company seemed to suggest that stock could run out at any moment. "Once they are gone, they're gone," Google said. "So we'd suggest people get them while they can."

It's no big surprise that Nexus 5 production has ended. The device is more than a year-old at this point. Google already has a new flagship with the Nexus 6, though its massive frame may be a turn-off for some people. If you're looking for something smaller there's always the Moto X or Moto G, which both run near stock Android with a few helpful software tweaks.
