Well, another year has past, and we’ve seen some major changes in the tech world: Android has taken market share in the smartphone industry, Apple has unified iOS to all mobile devices, tablets have taken off,Windows 7 has become mainstream and LED televisions have started to become a fixture in many homes. These were all exciting happenings in the tech world in 2010. Things that didn’t happen were things like the elusive white iPhone, Linux is still a niche operating system, Verizon landing a CDMA iPhone and anyone coming out with a real competitor for the iPad.
As I penned this article, 2011 was a mere three hours away and I had already set my personal resolutions in stone. Now it’s time to set some resolutions for my technical life. I have been reviewing tech gear for over two years now, and it’s time to contemplate where I want to grow in tech expertise. I have been thinking about this for a good month now, and I think I have come up with some solid tech goals for 2011.
I first resolve to expand my knowledge beyond mobile devices into different sectors that I feel readers will be interested in, such as the next generation of flat panel televisions, home networking techniques and automotive technology. There are many other areas where I hope to grow and excel, but these are the top three on my list. My trip to CES, and the contacts made there, will determine how quickly these resolutions come to fruition.
This is not to say that I will abandon mobile devices as they have become a passion of mine, and there will always be more to learn on the mobile front in relation to Android, Windows Phone 7 and iOS so I suppose I could put continued learning on the list also.
With a new year comes new goals, new challenges, new acquaintances, new business partners and new opportunities. In the case of the TechnoBuffalo family, a new website design, new writers joining the team, and hopefully new readers to become part of the community. Some look at the end of one year and the beginning of another as just another ordinary day, but I look at it as an opportunity to start anew and set some goals personally and professionally.
I ask you, the readers of TechnoBuffalo, how do you want to evolve over the next year? What are some of your New Year’s resolutions? Do you see the new year as an opportunity or just another day of the year? Let me know in the comments below.
