I'll come clean here and now: I used to be addicted to SimCity. I never got into The Sims, the people-driving offshoot from Maxis' main series. But, man, I was huge into SimCity.

My love for the franchise started, oddly enough, with one of its early non-PC ports. I played it on the Super Nintendo in the early 90s. I played the game so much that I regularly hit the 500,000 citizen mark (a feat that rewarded players with a placeable Mario statue), and I often let my city fall to stomping below the heavy feet of Bowser.

Years later, I still adore the series. That's why I was excited when I woke up this morning and saw the trailer you see above. SimCity, a series that hasn't seen a main entry since SimCity 4 in 2003, will see a brand new title for PCs in 2013.

If you're a Mac user and you're wondering if and when you'll see your own version of the sim favorite, unfortunately, we don't have an answer. EA and Maxis only announced the PC version of the game. However, know that Mac versions for this franchise typically release a few months after their PC brethren.

Will you be buying into this new SimCity?
