What you need to know

- The show is based on the popular series of fantasy books.
At Comic Con in just a few weeks, Netflix will hold a panel to discuss The Witcher. To tide fans over until then, the service has released images from the upcoming series.
The images show off the show's three lead characters, including Henry Cavill's Geralt. Also starring in the series is Anya Cholatra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri. While the character images don't tell us much, they're enough to highlight just how authentic the show will be.
Netflix also shared a longline for the show:
Based on the best-selling series of books, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
Netflix's panel for The Witcher will be held on July 19 at 2:15 pm at Comic Con's legendary Hall H. Cavill, Cholatra, and Allan will all be in attendance, along with showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.
In addition to the stars mentioned above, The Witcher will also feature Jodhi May as Calanthe, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as Eist, and Adam Levy as Mousesack, among many others.
Netflix hasn't said when The Witcher will be released, but we'll likely learn more at its panel later this month. For now, enjoy the images.
