Netflix has been teasing us with glimpses of The Punisher’s second season, and now we finally have an actual trailer. As you’d expect, there’s plenty of violence and brutality.

Following the events of season one, it would have been easy for Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) to seek out a simpler life, to leave vigilantism behind. But as the trailer shows, he’s not really interested in changing his ways.

The trailer does a nice job of setting up the second season’s premise. When Castle comes across Amy Bendix (Giorgia Whigham), he comes out of retirement and pledges to protect her from a mysterious group of killers.

Soon, Castle’s past comes back to haunt him, as Billy Russo’s Jigsaw comes to the fore.

As exciting as the new season looks, Netflix’s Marvel properties are currently living in a house of cards. The service has already cancelled Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, leaving only Jessica Jones and The Punisher as the two remaining properties.

While there’s no indication The Punisher will get cancelled, Frank Castle might have no choice but to retire for good.

The Punisher Season 2 hits Netflix on January 18.
