Netflix on Tuesday expressed plans to introduce a new Marvel series every six months, with Jessica Jones next up for release. At the Television Critics Association (TCA), Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos acknowledged how successful Daredevil has been, and re-upped the service’s commitment to The Defenders—and maybe even a few surprise spin-offs in the coming months and years.

Sarandos said Netflix’s aim is to get a new series from the Defenders group out every six months, until finally they all collide for an ensemble show.

“Some will selectively have multiple seasons as they come out of the gate,” Sarandos said. “So there will probably be two launches a year.”

Netflix currently has Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist in Development, along with a second Daredevil season. Following that, Sarandos said there’s a possibility for a spin-off show for The Punisher, who is being introduced in season 2 of Daredevil, which comes out early next year.

“It’s possible for sure,” he said. “That’s the beauty of the Marvel universe. Any of them could spin out into films too.”

Although Marvel has already found a home in theaters and on TV with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the studio is also finding great success in the world of streaming, with Daredevil showing how great a platform Netflix is for shows with such massive universes. Today it’s The Defenders. Tomorrow who knows what other big Marvel shows Netflix will develop.
