Nakamura was born in Dec. 1925 and established Nakamura Manufacturing in 1955. His company became an early pioneer in video games and was a dominant force in the rise of Japanese arcade machines. The company was renamed Namco in 1977 as it became more prevalent, and to this day, it remains one of the leading video game companies in Japan. Nakamura became the president of the company in 2002 and oversaw the merger between it and Japanese toy company, Bandai, in 2006.

He was also an honorary member of the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

His funeral will be held to include only has close family and friends. Fans of Bandai Namco will be allowed to attend a "Farewell Gathering" event at a later TBA date.
