motorola_photon_q_sprintLate last year, Motorola Mobility stated plans to unlock bootloaders across its portfolio of devices. However, some may argue that this olive branch was extended with a set of thorns. Even though devices would feature an unlockable/relockable bootloader, currently the decision to offer a device with an unlocked bootloader is made by the wireless carrier selling the device.

Hearing the pleas of upset customers, Motorola Mobility appears to have turned over a new leaf. The phone maker announced on Thursday that the new Sprint-bound PHOTON Q 4G LTE would ship with an unlocked bootloader. Motorola also states that it will be working closely with its carrier partners to apply this option to future devices as well.
