We first heard about the Motorola Admiral back in August when its name was included in a leak of some upcoming logos Sprint intended to use. While the big excitement was centered around the inclusion of the Samsung Galaxy S II model the Now Network would be receiving, the Admiral hung out at the bottom of the image without a whole lot of explanation.
Sprint has gone and made the Motorola Admiral official today, and without much time to spare as you can start ordering the phone this Sunday, October 23, for $99.99 with an eligible upgrade or new two-year service contract along with a $50 mail0in rebate.
The Motorola Admiral is definitely designed for business folks on the go as its sporting a full physical QWERTY keyboard and has been designed to meet the standards for Military Standard 810G for dust, shock, vibration, solar radiation, low pressure and high and low temperatures. It’s also sporting the beloved push-to-talk capabilities of Sprint Direct Connect, something that definitely appeals to the business folks.
As we speculated back when we saw the logo, the absence of “4G” in the name did indeed mean that this phone wil only be running on Sprint’s 3G network. So don’t expect to be setting any speed records with it when it comes to data consumption.
The Admiral goes up for order this Sunday and will be available in all Sprint stores and supply channels on November 13.
