Verizon announced today that the Moto X will be available on its network online and in stores starting this Thursday, Aug. 29. Motorola’s flagship smartphone will sell for $199 with a two-year contract on Verizon, though it is unclear when the Moto Maker customization tool will be available on the carrier. That option is currently exclusive to AT&T.
The Moto X first landed AT&T last week. The handset comes equipped with a 4.7-inch AMOLED 720p display, a 10-megapixel rear camera with a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, a dual-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, a 2,200mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, and either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. The new smartphone comes running Android 4.2.2 out of the box, along with several key features including Google Now integration.
The best part of the Moto X may be the special services designed by Motorola and Google, but if you’re a die-hard Android fan you may want to hold out of the Developer Edition. The smartphone maker teased the handset on its official website this past weekend, promising that a 32GB version of the device with an unlockable bootloader is “coming soon.”
