If you own a Moto G5 Plus locked to Verizon, let’s hope you don’t need to dial 911 over the course of the next week. Why? Because the handset won’t place the call if you have Voice over LTE (VoLTE) enabled — and chances are, you do.

Don’t fret it, though. Lenovo, which acquired Motorola in October 2014, has acknowledged the problem over on its forums and says a fix will arrive within the next week by way of an over-the-air (OTA) update.

“We will be issuing a fix for this issue within the next week. Please accept and install the software update as soon as it is offered on your device,” writes the firm.

You should really disable VoLTE

In the meantime, we’d recommend disabling VoLTE on your Moto G5 Plus, so if you do happen to find yourself in a bad situation, you can contact the appropriate authorities in a timely manner.

To do so, open up Settings, select More, hit Wireless & Networks, press Cellular Networks, then turn Enhanced 4G LTE Mode off. After the upgrade arrives, feel free to activate it again by following the same procedure, but flick the switch to On.

Update: A fix has been released to address the issue. Owners can get it now by going to Settings > About phone > System updates.
