One of the coolest looking new IP's from E3 2011 was Insomniac Games' latest third person shooter Overstrike, making its MIA status at E3 2012 a little perplexing.  The Ratchet and Clank developer only showed off a reveal trailer for their first multiplatform game last year. Even with no gameplay footage, plenty of Insomniac's imaginative weapons, unique character designs, humorous dialogue, and vibrant worlds showed a game worthy of the company's long legacy.

Those who were waiting for gameplay to appear during E3 this year walked away disappointed as the game never showed up.  However, publisher EA Partners has stated they don't have to wait too long, as EA Labels president Frank Gibeau told CVG:

"It's a new IP and we want to make it the right game, so they're taking some extra time to nail the gameplay and the quality. It felt like we would stand out better later in the summer once we've hit some key milestones and we're able to show off more."

Either the game is not ready to be shown or Insomniac wants to reveal this on their own terms without competition hogging up the internet.  Both are entirely possible, but probably more so with the later as E3 was obviously overflowing with shooters once again this year.

Overstrike will be released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 at a date yet to be determined.
