Capcom really wants you to see the difference between this new HD remake of Resident Evil and the original remake on the GameCube. Videos and comparison shots have been released before, but Capcom-Unity shows no sign of slowing down the hype for this game.

The latest batch has six comparison shots of three different scenes, but what makes this gallery so special is that it shows off one of the most iconic moments in the classic game. Our heroine Jill Valentine comes face to face with an enormous snake nicknamed “Yawn,” and the puny human doesn’t look like she has a chance. Against all odds though, she lives to fight another day, and this snake makes quite a few appearances over the course of the game, hunting her and her team to no end.

The other shots look decent enough for a remaster of a 12-year-old video game, and I can’t stress enough how important this re-release is for the Resident Evil franchise. Capcom has taken it so far away from its scary humble roots that it is nearly beyond recognition. It most recently tried to make an awkward jump into Call of Duty territory and failed miserably.

Hopefully, the developers behind this game can take this wonderful opportunity as a lesson to see what works in the franchise and what doesn’t and apply that knowledge to Resident Evil 7.

Resident Evil Remastered HD will be released in early 2015 for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
