Minecraft Bling

Minecraft, it's kind of a big deal.

Since its initial launch roughly 15 months ago, Minecraft has earned Mojang more than $80 million in pre-tax revenues. The numbers come as Mojang files its financials with Sweden, the country it takes residence in. For perspective, Rovio, makers of Angry Birds, reported $100 million in revenue.

Mojang's Carl Manneh spoke with The Financial Times about his company's success and how it's lead others towards them for additional work. The scope of said work includes things like TV shows. Here's Manneh:

"We've been approached by a number of high-profile Hollywood producers and asked to do TV shows…

…We may do that. It's hard when you don't have any experience and someone comes to throw these ideas around. We have so much to focus on with just the game development and growing the business. But if the right idea comes along and the right people that we'd want to work with, we'd say why not?"

Minecraft will likely earn Mojang even more money in the coming months. The blockbuster is set to launch for the Xbox LIVE Arcade platform on the Xbox 360 this coming May. The game will cost consumers $20, and you can bet a lot of buyers will be purchasing it for the second or third time.

As more comes regarding Minecraft and Mojang, we'll be sure to bring it to you.
