Grab your picks, swords, torches, carts and eventual pumpkin hats (dang Endermen), the official Minecraft convention tickets are now on sale. MineCon, as it’s been dubbed by Notch and the Mojang crew, runs from November 18th to 19th in Las Vegas, NV this year. Advance tickets are $99 for both days, or you can show up and buy the same entrance for $139.

If you’re already considering the trip out, head to the official site, buy your tickets and take advantage of the group discounts the convention team have made at area hotels. Trust me on this, if you’ve never been to a convention, you need to book at a hotel with a discount rate. Otherwise, your wallet will be slaughtered before you even leave your front door.

So, what goes on at MineCon? The convention’s site has a quick rundown of some of what you can expect. Here it is:

  • Official Minecraft launch
  • Keynote speeches (including one by our very own Notch)
  • Build contests
  • Breakout classes with all different Minecraft topics
  • Costume contests
  • Exhibits by leading gaming and Minecraft related companies
  • Meeting friends from around the world
  • Commemorative merchandise

More activities will be announced soon… these are just the ones we can tell you already. The ones we can’t yet disclose are going to blow your mind!

The first 500 registrants for the convention will be entered for a chance to win “The Ultimate Fan Experience.” One winner from that pool of convention goers will win VIP seating to all keynotes and classes, their hotel expenses paid and a meal with Team Mojang.

Any of you TechnoBuffalo readers considering the trip out to Vegas in order to enjoy the blocky goodness? I know I want to go, but convincing my wife that this trip is absolutely necessary may be a tough sell. Divorce, however, is always in the cards.
