Keeping true to his promise, Mega Man co-creator Keiji Inafune has kept his part of the bargain by making his newest creation look like just his old. Off-camera footage of Mighty No. 9 has crept from the halls of Comcept with Inafune himself playing the game, and it looks just as you would expect from a new Mega Man.

Running, blasting, jumping, dashing. The only real difference I can see here from a Mega Man game is that the dash attack now does damage to certain enemies, something that had always caused the Blue Bomber damage in his own game. Mighty No. 9's protagonist, Beck, isn't subject to such wimpiness though.

Looks like fun, but Inafune has promised some serious surprises to shake up the classic Mega Man formula. I'm wondering what these changes might be. He walks away from the basic gameplay "extremely satisfied," at least.

Mighty No. 9 will be released for the PC, Max, Linux, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo 3DS, and PlayStation Vita. Needless to say, if you have a video game device, you'll be able to play this game. Any takers?
