Microsoft will allegedly unveil a new "Smart Glass" companion application next week during the E3 trade show in Los Angeles. The application will reportedly allow users to share media, such as video or music with an Xbox 360 for viewing on an HDTV. It sounds similar to Apple's AirPlay technology, which allows users to play iPad or iPhone games on a bigscreen TV, for example.

Windows Phone users can already take advantage of a similar companion application to control their Xbox 360 systems, but Microsoft will reportedly add additional control features. Smart Glass is expected to launch for iOS, Android, Windows tablets and Windows Phone smartphones, although a launch window was not provided.

We'll be reporting live from E3 all next week so stay tuned for more information!
