Skype is on its way to Windows Phone, according to an interview done by Microsoft with Skype's VP of products, Rick Osterioh, at CES last week. In the interview (shown above), Osterioh said that the company was "working on a Windows Phone product that will be coming out soon," although did not specify what "soon" might be.

Microsoft acquired Skype last year, and had previously indicated that a Windows Phone version of the app would be available before the end of 2011. At its initial release Skype is expected to run as on Windows Phone as a standalone app (rather than an integrated app like Facebook or Twitter) until the release of Windows Phone Apollo later this year.

With Mobile World Congress just around the corner, we're likely to see the app launch then, if not before.
