Microsoft Office Mobile is now available for Android users, provided that they have an Office 365 subscription. The news follows the announcement of Office Mobile for iPhone, which was released last month.

Once you’ve downloaded the application from the Google Play store, you’ll need to sign in with your Microsoft account in order to prove that you have an existing Office 365 subscription. It will allow you to create and edit Word and Excel documents, as well as view and edit PowerPoint documents, complete with support for animations, SmartArt and more. All documents can be pulled in from or saved directly to a Microsoft SkyDrive account, and the most recent documents will show up first.

Office 365 is only available to U.S. residents right now, but Microsoft says that it will launch the application in additional countries over the coming weeks. A free 30-day trial to Office 365 is also available for anyone who wants to give it a whirl on an Android device.
