Following its announcement of the Surface Laptop and Windows 10 S earlier this week, Microsoft has scheduled an event to "show the world what's next." The gathering will take place on Tuesday, May 23 in Shanghai, but the firm hasn't specified the exact location, nor what it'll be showing off. Although, it reportedly told The Verge to expect new hardware.

Panos Panay, the man behind the Microsoft Surface, tweeted the announcement alongside the hashtag "#Surface," leading many to believe that the company is finally ready to show off the Surface Pro 5, which is tipped to ship with a 4K display (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) and a rechargeable stylus.

We're out of the loop

If Microsoft does use the event as an opportunity to take the wraps off the Surface Pro 5, we also expect it to unveil a slew of new accessories, like the rumored Surface Pen Loop. But, at present, we're out of the loop (no pun intended) — so it would be best to take each day as it comes and see what leaks emerge before jumping to any conclusions.
