Microsoft's codename for an update to its products and services is officially "Blue." A company spokesperson confirmed the name in a spring cleaning status update posted on the company's website this week.

"With a remarkable foundation of products in market and a clear view of how we will evolve the company, product leaders across Microsoft are working together on plans to advance our devices and services, a set of plans referred to internally as "Blue," Microsoft spokesperson Frank Shaw said.

Microsoft's project "Blue" has popped up in the past. We saw a job listing on the company's website to work on "Windows Phone Blue," the name given for the next version of Windows Phone, for now, and a new build of Windows Blue recently leaked showing off upcoming features.

Shaw added that Microsoft is currently planting the seeds for summer. Perhaps the rumors of an update launching this summer are true.
