Nintendo Switch Reveal

There are routinely two titles that Nintendo fans ask for. Well, there are more than just two, but these are among the ones that fans talk about a lot. They want a new, proper Metroid, and they want to see Mother 3 in the west.

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime fields questions about those games a lot, and he actually headed them off at the pass in an interview with Gamespot. The curious thing about his response? It sounds like Nintendo's actually working on something.

When Gamespot mentioned that "some franchises have languished in the shadows, Fils-Aime dropped in with this, and Gamespot was quick to clarify that he did so "jovially."

"Oh, so earlier today I got asked about Mother 3; maybe you can ask me about Metroid…Look, again, I am proud as an executive with Nintendo to say that we look at all of the boards and all of the comments and we really have a good understanding of what our consumers want. And believe me, we take that to heart as we work to create content.

So I have nothing to announce–here. But we are aware that there are some key IP that consumers just can't wait for the next true installment in that franchise's legacy. Suffice it to say, we're aware of it, and talk to me in a year and let's look back and see what's happened."

Nintendo says they're listening

The company definitely has community folks in charge of paying attention to message boards and sites like this one you're reading now. They know we're talking about them, and they definitely know what we're after. That's why Earthbound got such a celebrated Virtual Console release not too long ago.

Does that mean we'll see these games anytime soon? I'm not sure, but Nintendo's clearly listening.
