After three Men In Black movies starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, the franchise is getting properly rebooted with Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. You can see the two try to save the world in the movie's first trailer below.
Men In Black: International reunites the Thor: Ragnarok actors in a new story that will see MIB go global. We don't exactly know what the film's plot is, but it will partly have to do with Agent H (Hemsworth) and Agent M (Thompson) teaming up to save the world.
At one point in the trailer, Liam Neeson's character suggests the Men In Black organization has been compromised, putting the whole word at risk.
There are plenty of fun new weapons in the trailer but not nearly enough aliens. That may have been done deliberately so as to not spoil some of the movie's surprises. But come on.
As much as I enjoyed Hemsworth and Thompson together in Thor: Ragnarok, I'm not sure their dynamic works all that well for this franchise. Men In Black was great because it put a curmudgeon (Jones) with a cocky youngster (Smith); it's always fun to watch two complete opposites interact.
Not much of that is going on in Men In Black: International. But we'll reserve final judgement until the film hits theaters on June 14, 2019.
