It’s been a long, rewarding road to get to Avengers: Infinity War. The film will be the culmination of years’ worth of plot points, twists, epic battles, and bad villains, all converging with Thanos attempting to collect the Infinity Stones.
Looking back, not every movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a winner. Iron Man set a high bar, only for the next few films to falter. Then The Avengers was released, reminding us why we love comic book movies in the first place.
Phase Two of the MCU was mostly good, with Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy standing out. Phase Three has been nothing short of outstanding, with Thor: Ragnarok, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Black Panther.
Clearly, Marvel Studios has found its footing as the MCU has gone on, though there have been some gems early on.
Side note: If you’re catching up ahead of Infinity War’s release, you can skip these movies.
To celebrate the MCU’s success, a user on Reddit took screenshots of all 18 title cards, which range from dull to dazzling. What’s interesting is not all of these title cards show up in the beginning of the movie. And Thor: Ragnarok includes two title cards, one in the beginning and one at the end.
My favorite of the bunch is the card for Spider-Man: Homecoming, following by Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2. Both movies feature fantastic openings, particularly Guardians 2.
We also wanted to call out the Iron Man 3 title card. While it’s not particularly creative, the end credits sequence is fantastically done, with perfect editing and music. The whole of that sequence is more entertaining than the movie. See for yourself.
You can see all 18 title cards in the gallery above. Which one is your favorite?
