You wanted it, and now you got it. A fourth Matrix movie is happening and most of the main players are set to return including Keanu Reeves as Neo.

According to Variety, the new Matrix movie will be produced by Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures. Warner Bros. Picture Group chairman Toby Emmerich confirmed the project.

"We could not be more excited to be re-entering the Matrix with Lana," said Emmerich. "Lana is a true visionary — a singular and original creative filmmaker — and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in 'The Matrix' universe."

Lana Wachowski is set to return to pen the script and direct the project. Joining Keanu Reeves will be his main love interest, Trinity, which will see the return of Carrie-Anne Moss. Production is set to begin some time in 2020. It's unclear what the story will be about, but Lana has been toying with some ideas for a while.

"Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I'm very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends," Wachowski said.

There was no word on if Laurence Fishburne will return to reprise his role as Morpheus nor whether Lana's sister, Lilly Wachowski, who wrote and directed the original trilogy with her, will have any involvement.

In any case, fans of the franchise should be quite happy. Talk about a new Matrix movie has been circulating for years but it is now a reality. It's time to go back into the Matrix.
