Iron Fist

With the movie side of Marvel's Cinematic Universe firmly established, it sounds as though the TV side is anything but. Bleeding Cool reports Marvel Studios might not sign off on a standalone series for Iron First, which was previously announced as coming to Netflix. Apparently there's some infighting happening between Kevin Feige, who heads Marvel Studios, and Marvel Entertainment CEO, Isaac Perlmutter, which could lead to the cancellation of the show—or at least a serious delay.

As an aside, it also looks like Inhumans, which was originally scheduled for a 2018 release and was pushed back to 2019 in last week's reshuffle, could get dropped completely. Take that with a grain of salt, but disagreements from within are quite clearly ongoing. If so, fans are the ones who ultimately miss out.

As for Iron First, it sounds like the character's fate is very much in flux, meaning he might not be part of Marvel's Defenders plans, which would have seen Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist team up. There have been rumors about Iron Fist being in trouble before, so today's news isn't exactly new. It could just be that the character doesn't quite fit in with the other three; Iron Fist deals with sorcery and mysticism, a bit like Doctor Strange, so perhaps there would be too much overlap.

We won't know what's going on until Marvel speaks up. For now, we have Jessica Jones next month, season 2 of Daredevil sometime early next year, and a Luke Cage standalone to look forward to.
